Unsurprisingly, my obsession with monochrome does not subside during the warmer months. Irrespective of the season, you can bet that if there’s a way I can incorporate black into my look, I’ll make it happen. It’s no lie that alongside black, white and all shades of grey, I much prefer donning winter wear. Playing with layers, textures and textiles is an easy way to express myself, plus you get the option of styling a huge range of cosy accessories – Snood anyone?
When the team at Mesop, a Melbourne-based Australian designed brand invited me to come along for a private viewing of their upcoming 2017 A/W collection, needless to say, I was elated. Browsing through the racks of luxurious jackets, knits, dresses and everything in between made me even more excited for the cooler months to roll in.
Considering we’ve been experiencing a heat wave brought on by the depths of hell, I thought it might be best to leave the shearling laden leather for June, and style something a little more trans-seasonal. Featuring the ‘Corlie’ dress, I was able to put together an ultra comfortable monochromatic everyday chic look at a moment’s notice, despite it being 35 degrees outside. I can easily see this piece being styled with opaque tights or over-the-knee boots when the weather cools down, making it the perfect all-rounder.
